Some examples of the State-of-the-Art technology used by Councill and Glass Dental Group include:

CEREC® - Cerec is a one visit restoration. Using advanced CAD/CAM technology, we scan your teeth to create a digital impression. Using the digital impression, we create a 3D image of your tooth. This allows us to design a restoration that improves the beauty and function of your smile, and one that requires fewer adjustments. Using this image, we can design and fabricate a restoration from a solid block of ceramic. This allows us to create custom-made crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays in a single visit.

INVISALIGN® - Invisalign® treatment uses clear, plastic aligners to straighten your teeth instead of full metal braces. You dentist will take 3D images of your teeth that are used to determine your treatment. The computer technology allows for the creation of a customized plan just for your specific needs. You will wear the aligners until the treatment is completed.

3D Printing at Councill and Glass Dental

3D printing is a form of additive manufacturing, whereby materials can be joined together, layer upon layer until a 3D replica has been built. The technology of 3D printing allows a dentist to create customized dental components and devices when used in combination with intra-oral scanning and CAD/CAM design software. 3D printing is currently being used to fabricate:

Dental models
Prototypes for large reconstructive cases
Surgical guides for dental implant placement
Metal alloy frameworks for partial dentures
Orthodontic appliances
Nightguards

We use a 3D printer to create high-resolution dental models and prototypes. After obtaining detailed images from our 3Shape Trios® intra-oral scanner, we use specialized software to design the desired model or mock-up. This design is sent to the printer that has been loaded with an FDA-approved tank of resin, and within a few hours, the fabrication is complete. Because the 3D printer is able to convert digital images into physical objects, the results are more accurate than if the object were completed manually. The patient is able to receive implants much faster as the printer eliminates the need to wait weeks for an off site lab to complete the job.
